About Me

Who is a "Fractalist"? I think a fractalist is anyone who has an appreciation of fractals.  The most common theme in anything fractal is the sense of scale.  It is what ties everything that is fractal together - scale is what controls chaos and order, and determines whether we find self-similarity or infinite randomness.   So as a fractalist anything that reminds us of the importance of scale similarity and differentiation at the same time should make us take a moment to appreciate admire and study the beautiful objects and ideas that can only be described as fractalistic!
So the background of this blog shows a beach where we can see fractals everywhere - from the clouds to the trees, the water, the sand and the rocks we see scale order and chaos blended into beauty.  So while for the most part I see fractals as simple math (see Mandelbrot below), fractals are also

everywhere around us in everyday life.  So the point of this blog is to observe what I think lends itself to being appreciated from a fractal point of view whether it is hard computation or simple observations in day to day life! =)
I hope you enjoy the diversity of what is presented here and broaden your horizons by looking at everything differently by seeing the scale, order and chaos of everything in the world around you.  Only by carefully observing the details while keeping an eye on the "bigger" picture can we immerse ourselves in all of the fractal wonders that surround us.
